The Girl In The Red Glasses’ (TGRG) exclusive series of book events with Black Cultural Archives returns for 2020.

Known as SixByNines & Co. – in celebration of paperback books and all the formats they come in – the TGRG team bring the best in Black literature to the Archives.

To kick-off 2020, the prolific author Dorothy Koomson will be celebrating the launch of her paperback, Tell Me Your Secret on Wednesday 5 February 2020. She’ll be joined by the novelist, Frances Mensah Williams, the writer behind the beautiful modern-day romance novels, From Pasta to Pigfoot and Second Helpings.

Audiences are treated to an intimate evening with the authors who discuss life, careers and their new books. In 2019, we welcomed American YA author, Jayson Reynolds (Ghost, Patina), Nels Abbey (Think Like A White Man), Alex Wheatle (Straight Out Of Crongton, Brixton Rock), JJ Bola (Mask Off: Masculinity Redefined), Mark Maciver (Shaping Up Culture) and Yomi Sode (Coat).

“My house is overrun with books” says TGRG MD, Juanita Rosenior. “They’ve been my safe space since I was a child reading Biff and Chip and running through all the reading levels.”

“I’ve read both Dorothy Koomson and Frances Mensah William’s books for years and can categorically say they are two of my favourite Black British writers. To have them both at the Archives in the same space, at the same time is everything”

“SixByNines & Co. allows me share these amazing authors with audiences across London which is really fulfilling. The conversations had are so authentic and inspiring. A wicked buzz goes through me each time one comes together.”
